Until mid-1998, Frenz’s library
was packed in cardboard boxes sitting in a committee members hallway. In
July 1998, it moved to RRS swapping cardboard for iron and a hallway for a
small area at the entrance of the bilingual unit in RRS. In 2001, the
classroom’s books and the iron blue trunk were united at last and members
could browse comfortably seated in a sofa.

By 2002, with the ever increasing
volume of books and resources the space was proving too small and much in
demand by the teachers. After consultation with the principal it was converted
into a computer corner easily accessed by both junior and senior students of the
unit and the library was relocated to the main school library. As a result Frenz
now has a well resourced and spacious library thanks to the generosity and
vision of our principal, Hayley Read.
Ever
since, Frenz has worked hard to enrich and improve the library by purchasing new
titles, completing very popular series and increasing the numbers of videos. We
now have around 1500 books and 120 videos/DVDs.
We thank Olivier Wardecki and Kate Locke
from Next Technology for their generous participation.
The books are sorted following the
library DEWEY system. Picture books have been sorted into two groups: the
pre-school books have green labels and the 5+ years have orange labels.
Laminated information sheets can be found on the pre-school shelves to guide you
through the system.
10 books and 2 videos per family can
be borrowed for a maximum of one month. Bring borrowed books and videos back
promptly so everyone can benefit from them in turn. There is a book return box
where books can be dropped off anytime during school hours.
Our Resource
Centre opening hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 3.00pm to 4.00pm with our
volunteers and Friday all day with Jo, the school librarian. Note: only members
of Frenz Association are entitled to borrow resources.

Come in, look around and discover
new heroes such as Yakari the little Sioux, Ratus the green rat or the bunnies
of the Passiflore family. For those who enjoy facts, there are science and
geography books: the world of insects, the stars… and many others.
As far as videos go, have you heard
of Rougemuraille, Kirikou, Princes et Princesses, Sauvez Willy, Astérix et
Obélix contre César, Les histoires du Père Castor, Les Contes du Chat Perché,
Caroline et Ses Amis, Peau d’Anne ….?

displayed are for info only. This is because we keep adding more books,
tapes and DVD on regular basis, and we do not update the information on the
