The FRENZ project
aims to establish a French language Early Childhood Centre (ECC) in
Central Auckland catering for 3-5 year olds. The centre will be a full
French language immersion unit.
The
programme
The New Zealand
curriculum will be taught following the principle of 'Te Whaariki',
with elements of French culture included. The centre will operate
under a sessional licence with two daily sessions catering for up to
thirty children. All Ministry of Education licensing requirements will
be respected.

The
children
The children will
not necessarily need to speak French. The preschool will allow New
Zealand children to learn the French language, socialize, and play in
a French-speaking environment. We aim to broaden their horizons by
facilitating access to another language and culture. Children from a
French-speaking family will also benefit, as the school will enable
them to preserve both their French and New Zealand heritage.
The
Teachers
Teachers will be
qualified, fluent French speakers. We are looking at a ratio of 1
teacher for 8 children.
