The French language pre-school project has been taken up by a
new subcommittee of motivated and dedicated parents.
Our aim is to create a licensed centre providing high quality
education in a fun, stimulating and safe environment for children aged from 3 to
5.
The centre would be a full French language immersion
unit. The children would therefore not need to speak French. The preschool would
allow New Zealand children to learn the French language and its culture,
socialize, and play in a French-speaking environment, broadening their horizons.
Children from French-speaking families would also benefit, as the centre would
enable them to preserve both their French and New Zealand heritage.
Our programme will be based on Te Whaariki, the New Zealand’s
early childhood curriculum.
As we are still exploring the different possible avenues for
the pre-school, we cannot give a date for the opening of the centre. Our aim is
to open it at the beginning of 2006, but it could happen as early as the
beginning of 2005.
In order to confirm that there is interest in the community, we are now doing
a market survey. If you want to give this unique opportunity to your child,
please take a few minutes to fill out this short questionnaire. We will
contact all the people who have filled the survey when more information on the
location and date of opening will be available. In the meantime, consult this
website to follow the progress of the project which will be updated monthly.
