Beginning

                                     Teachers

Senior Class:

Maryse Varaine is the class teacher. Maryse arrived from France in 1990 with her husband and three sons. Following an additional year training in NZ, she gained full NZ registration. The Bilingual Unit opened in 1996 with 6 students with Maryse as their teacher. She has invested a lot of time, skill and energy in the unit , which has resulted in a successful well delivered, well organised and well documented programme. She is an excellent teacher, an expert in vertical teaching and is respected and appreciated by both parents and students.

Maryse is also the supervisor for the french program of the section and reports directly to the school principal, Mrs Hayley Read. This year, she is also in charge of the organization of the new maths program for the second cycle.

 

Prehuia Enari. Frenz is pleased to have Parehuia Enari on board, to teach english in the senior section. Parehuia, a Maori-English bilingual herself has already been teaching in a bilingual environment and is familiar with the teaching methods for bilinguism.

                                                                         

Junior Class:

Vesna Nikolic-Ivanovic is the class teacher. She arrived from Yugoslavia in 1996, with her husband and their son, Milos, who attends the french class. Vesna has devoted herself to the study, translation, language education, the culture and civilisation of France for a number of years. As Maryse, Vesna had to complete her training and after a further year’s study in New Zealand,  her qualifications were recognised. Vesna expresses her passion for all things french, in the junior class to which she is totally committed.

Vesna is in charge of the history-geography and French Foreign Language programs for the juniors at the school, in cooperation with other teachers.

 

 

                                                           

Language Assistant:

 Valerie Levergne currently holds the position, and has been in New Zealand since 1990. Two of her children are in the bilingual unit. Valerie is a qualified secondary school teacher.
