The French-English unit at Birkdale North School is called L'Étoile du Nord and was established with the help of Frenz in 2012.
Birkdale North School is a publicly funded primary school on Auckland’s North Shore, just a few minutes from the Harbour Bridge and 20 minutes from downtown. Our school is committed to bilingualism and diversity, also featuring a bilingual Te Reo Māori class, mainstream English classes and sharing our grounds with a special needs unit.

Birkdale North School has about 200 students and is located in a quiet neighbourhood close to the sea.
There is currently no school zone for Birkdale North School.
Green space
Our school has large green playing fields, playgrounds and a swimming pool used in the summer months (Terms 1 and 4).
Bilingual class structure
The NZ curriculum is taught in French 3 days a week and in English 2 days a week ensuring children are proficient in both languages in all academic subjects.

*not mandatory for siblings, children currently living in a francophone country and children currently attending a francophone school like The Lycée Français.
international students
For international fee paying students, follow the same steps as above but enrol your children using the international student pack and return it to office@birkdalenorth.school.nz
