The French-English unit at Ridgway School is called Ruru La Chouette and was established with the help of Frenz in 2019.
Ridgway School is a publicly funded primary school in Southern Brooklyn, Wellington, just a few minutes from the CBD. Our school is committed to bilingualism and diversity. Ridgway School has about 240 students and is located in a vibrant neighbourhood.
Ridgway is currently in the process of becoming zoned, it is not yet in place.
Ridgway School has a large playing field with a 400m sealed bike track, as well as a skills track with various cycle challenges. Children have adventures in amongst the trees and plants on our bank, build and create in the sandpit, and take care of the plants in our garden.
Bilingual class structure
The NZ curriculum is taught in French every morning and in English every afternoon, ensuring children become proficient in both languages in all academic subjects.

Note that Ridgway School does not take international fee paying students.

The school will contact you to schedule a language evaluation for your children, usually in October for the following school year.
Ridway School will score your children's application against a set of priority points and let you know if they are accepted in the bilingual programme.
